Rafael Sabatini

1875–1950

Rafael Sabatini (1875-1950) was an Italian-British writer of historical adventure novels, raised between Italy, Portugal and Switzerland and fluent in several languages before settling on English as the best one for storytelling. He wrote for twenty-five years before Scaramouche (1921) and Captain Blood (1922) made him internationally successful, and both were filmed repeatedly.
