F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was an American novelist and short-story writer who left Princeton without a degree and published This Side of Paradise at twenty-three, which made him famous and paid for the marriage and the decade that followed. He wrote four completed novels, chronicling the prosperity and disillusionment of the 1920s. He died of a heart attack at forty-four, his books largely out of print, and was rediscovered within a generation.
